The satellites located Kristyna after a month of time. She resided between Kédouga and Saraya, about 30 kilometers south of her usual winter habitat.

The Czech Radio station received a message stating that Jakub (who had been missing since November 1998) died in January near Bauchi (northeastern Nigeria). In that territory, damp areas are common, local people use springs to catch water birds. It is likely Jakub died this way, too.)
