December 1998
  • December 28      Jonas was transferred from Prague to Malaga by an airplane. A group of Spanish ornithologists lead by Cristina Parkes and Alejandrem Torésem moved him into delta of Guadalquiviru river, where he was planned to be released the very next day not far from the spot his father David was residing.

  • December 29      The release of Jonas was delayed due to bad weather. Cristina Parkes found David in the afternoon together with 4 grown-up black storks. About 600 m far, she encountered another flock of black storks counting 11 young storks and 5 grown-ups.

  • December 30      Spanish ornithologists released Jonas in the afternoon in the middle of a flock counting more than 20 black storks. David was residing near the place. Jonas joined the flock without hesitation and started to behave as the other birds did. He took short flights from time to time, however, he was spending most of his time standing by an irrigation channels. There, he was either feeding himself with crayfish or just resting.
